Why Substack?

As a published author, coach’s wife, and content manager, I spend my days writing about various subjects. My websites cover things I’m passionate about, such as the coaching life, discipleship, and ethical digital marketing. These subjects are all part of my daily life, however, my interests reach much further.

Through decades of writing I’ve discovered I’m most passionate about sharing what I’m learning as I study Scripture, yet search algorithms make it challenging to find devotional writing online.

You can also find me over at bethmwalker.com and lessonsfromthesidelines.com; this space is reserved for devotionals with the hope that these words will not get lost in the algorithms of the World Wide Web.

The Goal

Perspectives Beyond the Plot will encourage readers to dig deeper into Bible stories, reading beyond the surface and considering cultural context. We’ll examine how a deeper understanding of Scripture reveals the relevance of the Word today and consider the lessons we can apply to our daily choices. We’ll also reflect on some common sayings in Christendom and explore how they came about and whether they accurately reflect what the Bible says.
